Yoga for All, Big or Small!

3 - 5 year olds

In these fun, exploratory classes, we embark on imaginative yoga adventures, combining simple yoga poses with engaging songs, stories, puppets and games. At the preschool and Kindergarten level, we focus on exercises that build social, sensory and motor skills, while also increasing flexibility and body awareness. In a class full of self-expression, our youngest students learn how release energy through movement, but also how to focus through breathing and relaxation techniques. These classes are especially helpful  for little ones who have trouble sleeping or an excess of overflowing energy.
Recommended class time: 30-45 minutes.

6 - 9 year olds

This age group loves to play games, learn a variety of poses and sequences, and tackle challenging inversions and arm balances! In these classes, children will learn self-respect and respect for others with the practice of fun and challenging poses, partner and group poses, lots of yoga games, breathing and basic anatomy. With plenty of movement, we seek to improve strength, flexibility, and coordination, while teaching the children how to focus and center themselves with various breathing and visualization techniques.
Recommended class time: 45 minutes - 1 hour.

10 - 12 year olds

As our students reach the preteen years, our biggest goal is to help promote self-confidence, respect, a positive body awareness, and breathing exercises to cope with life's stressors. As we begin to introduce adult-level flowing sequences and more physically challenging poses, preteens will build strength and flexibility. Visualization and breathing exercises are used for overall balance and concentration, which can be applied toward everyday situations. Partner and group poses are emphasized, and age-appropriate yoga games are included in every class.
Recommended class time: 1 hour.

Teens (13 and up)

Our teenage students learn yoga postures that build inner and outer strength, flexibility, balance, and stamina. While we continue to include partner and group poses and playful yoga games, our teen classes focus on the physical benefits of a regular yoga practice, as well as the emotional balance that can be achieved by intentionally practicing breathing exercises, flowing sequences, balancing poses, guided meditations and focused relaxation exercises. We continue to build a group setting that promotes self-confidence, respect, a positive body awareness, and coping mechanisms for daily stresses.
Recommended class time: 1 hour.
